Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A capriccio of the monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos, on the island of Patmos by Jean-Baptiste Hilaire was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2008. The price achieved of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 7,623.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Hilaire achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sultan Abd-ul Hamid I standing in front of a golden throne, a domed palace in the distance in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 157,000.00 (€ 105,788.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A capriccio of the monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos, on the island of Patmos von Jean-Baptiste Hilaire kam im Juli 2008 bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
