This artwork by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January this year. In the Old Master & British Drawings auction, the work Study of a nude young man with a halo, half-length, his arms raised to the left sold for USD 37,800.00 (€ 34,813.04) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait de la comtesse de La Rue in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 2,081,000.00.

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres erzielte im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings wurde die Arbeit Study of a nude young man with a halo, half-length, his arms raised to the left für USD 37.800,00 (€ 34.813,04) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait de la comtesse de La Rue im Februar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 2.081.000,00.
