Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le Feu Des Signes by Jean McEwen was sold in the Important Canadian Art auction at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of CAD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of CAD 25,200.00 (€ 18,093.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean McEwen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Compagnon De Silence, which sold at auction in May 2012 for CAD 65,750.00 (€ 51,381.15).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Le Feu Des Signes von Jean McEwen wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion Important Canadian Art bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von CAD 25.200,00 (€ 18.093,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Jean McEwen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Compagnon De Silence beobachtet, die im Mai 2012 für CAD 65.750,00 (€ 51.381,15) versteigert wurde.
