Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work October by Jasper Francis Cropsey was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 60,625.00 (€ 49,717.07). Admittedly, works by Jasper Francis Cropsey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Indian Summer On The Susquehanna in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 432,500.00 (€ 384,923.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit October von Jasper Francis Cropsey im Mai 2021 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 60.625,00 (€ 49.717,07) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jasper Francis Cropsey auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Indian Summer On The Susquehanna im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 432.500,00 (€ 384.923,46).
