Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2004 Christies in New York held the auction The House Sale, which included the work The Ladies' Flower Garden: Eight Plates by Jane Wells Loudon. The price achieved of USD 2,629.00 (€ 2,138.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jane Wells Loudon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Ladies' Flower Garden of Ornamental Annuals. London: William Smith, 1840. 4° (270 x 201mm). 48 hand-coloured lithographic plates with over 300 figures of plants by Day & Haghe after Mrs. Loudon.
