Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jane Wells Loudon could be acquired at Christies in New York in December 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The House Sale auction, the work The Ladies' Flower Garden: Eight Plates changed hands for USD 1,195 (€ 949) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000 – 3,000. Admittedly, works by Jane Wells Loudon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Ladies' Flower Garden of Ornamental Annuals. London: William Smith, 1840. 4° (270 x 201mm). 48 hand-coloured lithographic plates with over 300 figures of plants by Day & Haghe after Mrs. Loudon. Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jane Wells Loudon konnte im Dezember 2003 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The House Sale wechselte die Arbeit The Ladies' Flower Garden: Eight Plates für USD 1.195,00 (€ 948,64) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jane Wells Loudon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Ladies' Flower Garden of Ornamental Annuals.
