Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Vincentia van der Does (1543-1628), three-quarter-length, in a black gown with a fur-lined 'tabbaard', lace ruff and cap by Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn was sold in the Old Masters, 19th Century and Impressionist Art auction at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2014. The price achieved of EUR 31,250.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black coat and lace collar; and Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black dress with gold trim and a lace collar and headdress in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 712,000.00 (€ 521,229.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Vincentia van der Does (1543-1628), three-quarter-length, in a black gown with a fur-lined 'tabbaard', lace ruff and cap von Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn wurde im Mai 2014 in der Auktion Old Masters, 19th Century and Impressionist Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black coat and lace collar; and Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black dress with gold trim and a lace collar and headdress im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 712.000,00 (€ 521.229,87).
