Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a young woman, bust-length by Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,190.00 (€ 6,974.37). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black coat and lace collar; and Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black dress with gold trim and a lace collar and headdress in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 712,000.00 (€ 521,229.87).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of a young woman, bust-length von Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.190,00 (€ 6.974,37) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black coat and lace collar; and Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black dress with gold trim and a lace collar and headdress im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 712.000,00 (€ 521.229,87).
