This artwork by Jan Steen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2018. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Prayer before a Meal sold for GBP 392,750.00 (€ 440,359.11) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Steen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Prayer Before The Meal in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,957,227.93).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Steen erzielte im Juli 2018 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Prayer before a Meal für GBP 392.750,00 (€ 440.359,11) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Steen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Prayer Before The Meal im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.641.250,00 (€ 6.957.227,93).
