Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work A Tavern Interior With People Drinking And Music-Making by Jan Steen. The price achieved of GBP 42,500.00 (€ 50,499.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Steen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Prayer Before The Meal in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,957,227.93).
