Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Before the rain by Jan Rijlaarsdam was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 960.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Rijlaarsdam have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Flowergirl in June 2001 with an auction result of NLG 18,800.00 (€ 9,036.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Before the rain von Jan Rijlaarsdam im September 2006 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 960,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Rijlaarsdam auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Flowergirl im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 18.800,00 (€ 9.036,16).
