The work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a blue fur-lined coat, a rosary with a pomander in his right hand by Jan Provost was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2017. The result of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 55,792.32) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Provost achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Annunciation in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,637,000.00 (€ 2,694,074.07).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a blue fur-lined coat, a rosary with a pomander in his right hand von Jan Provost wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 50.000,00 (€ 55.792,32) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Provost erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Annunciation im Januar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.637.000,00 (€ 2.694.074,07).
