Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Peonies, Tulips, Roses And Other Flowers On A Ledge With Two Butterflies, A Beetle, A Snail, And A Spider by Jan Mortel. Here, the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 122,500.00 (€ 77,787.66). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Mortel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, pears, blackberries, sheafs of corn, chestnuts, walnuts, medlars, cherries and a pomegranate with a snail, a butterfly, a grasshopper and a caterpillar by a plinth, which sold at auction in December 2005 for GBP 120,000.00 (€ 174,173.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peonies, Tulips, Roses And Other Flowers On A Ledge With Two Butterflies, A Beetle, A Snail, And A Spider von Jan Mortel zur Versteigerung kam.
