The work Peonies, tulips, roses and other flowers on a ledge with a snail, a beetle and a butterfly by Jan Mortel was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2007. It achieved a price of EUR 96,250.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 60 %. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jan Mortel; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, pears, blackberries, sheafs of corn, chestnuts, walnuts, medlars, cherries and a pomegranate with a snail, a butterfly, a grasshopper and a caterpillar by a plinth sold at auction in December 2005 with the realized price of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 174,173.28).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 96.250,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 60 %. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jan Mortel; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, pears, blackberries, sheafs of corn, chestnuts, walnuts, medlars, cherries and a pomegranate with a snail, a butterfly, a grasshopper and a caterpillar by a plinth im Dezember 2005 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 120.000,00 (€ 174.173,28).
