Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Peaches, Apricots, Grapes, Oranges, Blackberries, Sheafs of Corn And A Pomegranate On A Plinth With A Sculpted Relief, With Butterflies, A Snail And A Ladybird, In A Mountainous Landscape by Jan Mortel was sold in the Important Old Master Pictures auction at Christies in London in July 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 108,000.00 (€ 158,099.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Jan Mortel have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2005 the work Peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, pears, blackberries, sheafs of corn, chestnuts, walnuts, medlars, cherries and a pomegranate with a snail, a butterfly, a grasshopper and a caterpillar by a plinth was auctioned for GBP 120,000.00 (€ 174,173.28).
