The work Figs, Plums, Grapes, Peaches, Redcurrants And A Pumpkin, With A Lettuce Leaf Filled With Wild Strawberries, A Newt, A Butterfly, Ants And Snails On A Ledge by Jan Mortel was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2008. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 38,900.00 (€ 49,592.00). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Mortel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, pears, blackberries, sheafs of corn, chestnuts, walnuts, medlars, cherries and a pomegranate with a snail, a butterfly, a grasshopper and a caterpillar by a plinth, which sold at auction in December 2005 for GBP 120,000.00 (€ 174,173.28).
