Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Mussel Seller by Jan Josef Horemans the Elder was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 16,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,539.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Josef Horemans the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Four Seasons in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 46,160.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Mussel Seller von Jan Josef Horemans the Elder kam im Januar 2016 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 16.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.539,88) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Josef Horemans the Elder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Four Seasons im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 46.160,95).
