Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Boors playing a game of beugelen before a country inn, onlookers smoking beyond by Jan Steen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 845,000.00 (€ 942,890.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Steen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Prayer Before The Meal in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,957,227.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boors playing a game of beugelen before a country inn, onlookers smoking beyond von Jan Steen zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800.000,00 – 1.200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 845.000,00 (€ 942.890,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Steen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Prayer Before The Meal im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.641.250,00 (€ 6.957.227,93).
