This artwork by Jan Griffier the Elder achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2021. In the Old Masters Day Sale auction, the work A mountainous river landscape with an inn on the outskirts of a town in the foreground sold for GBP 32,760.00 (€ 38,417.89) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Griffier the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 252,000.00 (€ 295,522.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Griffier the Elder erzielte im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale wurde die Arbeit A mountainous river landscape with an inn on the outskirts of a town in the foreground für GBP 32.760,00 (€ 38.417,89) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Griffier the Elder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 252.000,00 (€ 295.522,25).
