Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

In July 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Rhenish Landscape With A Steep Forest Path On The Left by Jan Griffier the Elder. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 47,500.00 (€ 59,912.43), 19% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Griffier the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 252,000.00 (€ 295,522.25).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im Juli 2014 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rhenish Landscape With A Steep Forest Path On The Left von Jan Griffier the Elder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 59.912,43) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Griffier the Elder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 252.000,00 (€ 295.522,25).
