In April 2010 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters and 19th Century Art, which included the work An extensive mountainous river landscape with activities near the water, a castle on a mountain beyond by Jan Griffier the Elder. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 13,750.00 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Griffier the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 252,000.00 (€ 295,522.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im April 2010 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Masters and 19th Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit An extensive mountainous river landscape with activities near the water, a castle on a mountain beyond von Jan Griffier the Elder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 13.750,00 und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Griffier the Elder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A winter landscape with figures ice skating, a village and castle beyond im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 252.000,00 (€ 295.522,25).
