Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,945.42). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Both achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Italianate evening landscape with a muleteer and goatherds on a wooded path, a river and mountains beyond in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 1,433,750.00 (€ 2,318,354.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A wooded landscape with travellers crossing a ford von Jan Both kam im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 18.750,00 (€ 20.945,42) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Both erzielen.
