Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Italianate Landscape At Sunset, With Travelers On A Country Road by Jan Both was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 441,000.00 (€ 361,653.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Both have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Italianate evening landscape with a muleteer and goatherds on a wooded path, a river and mountains beyond in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 1,433,750.00 (€ 2,318,354.87).
