In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part I, which included the work The Five Senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Taste and Smell by Jan Breughel II. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,634,000.00 (€ 8,363,847.72), 44% above the upper estimate. With this result, The Five Senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Taste and Smell is even the most expensive work of art by Jan Breughel II that we have observed at auctions so far.
