Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Pendennis Cup, 2008: Mariquita leading the fleet towards the turning mark, with Mariette chasing her down and Altair, The Lady Anne, Kelpie and Adix trailing behind by Jamie Medlin was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 25,393.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jamie Medlin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mariquita racing to windward during the Pendennis Cup, 2010, which sold at auction in November 2011 for GBP 49,250.00 (€ 57,494.33).
