This artwork by James Cole achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2002. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work The pet rabbit sold for GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,520.20) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by James Cole; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot In the stable sold at auction in June 2000 with the realized price of GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,450.08).
