Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Dying Woman Being Received By Angels by James Northcote was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,000.00 (€ 642.34). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Northcote achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Admiral William Waldegrave, 1St Baron Radstock (1753-1825) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 64,551.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Dying Woman Being Received By Angels von James Northcote im April 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.000,00 (€ 642,34) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Northcote erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Admiral William Waldegrave, 1St Baron Radstock (1753-1825) im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 46.100,00 (€ 64.551,93).
