Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Half-Length, In A Brown Jacket And Striped Waistcoat by James Northcote was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,024.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Northcote achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Admiral William Waldegrave, 1St Baron Radstock (1753-1825) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 64,551.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Half-Length, In A Brown Jacket And Striped Waistcoat von James Northcote im Mai 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.024,86) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Northcote erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Admiral William Waldegrave, 1St Baron Radstock (1753-1825) im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 46.100,00 (€ 64.551,93).
