In June 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work A girl writing at a table by James McBey. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,422.04), 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James McBey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Dacie in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,566.56).

Im Juni 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit A girl writing at a table von James McBey zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.422,04) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James McBey erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Dacie im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 27.566,56).
