Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work The Henry VIII Inn, High Street, Lambeth (illustrated); and six other views of Lambeth and its environs including: The ruins of the 'Merry Boys' Tavern; Fore Street (3); Schoolhouse yard, Clerkenwell; and A bridge in Rotherhithe by James Lawson Stewart. It changed hands for a price of GBP 750.00 (€ 896.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Lawson Stewart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Entrance to the cloisters from Dean's Yard, Westminster (illustrated); Bell tower of St. Stephen's Chapel, Westminster; Courtyard of the Deanery, Westminster; The ancient gateway, Dean's Yard; and Judge Jeffries' House, Duke Street, Westminster, which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,9
