Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Part of the Marshelsea Prison, Bow Street (illustrated); Angel Place, Bow with Marshelsea Prison on the right; Stoney Street, Southwark; Fore Street, Lambeth (2); Angel Place, Borough; and New Princes Street, Lambeth by James Lawson Stewart was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 746.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Lawson Stewart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Entrance to the cloisters from Dean's Yard, Westminster (illustrated); Bell tower of St. Stephen's Chapel, Westminster; Courtyard of the Deanery, Westminster; The ancient gateway, Dean's Yard; and Judge Jeffries' House, Duke Street, Westminster, which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 1,6
