In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Caxton's House, with Westminster Abbey beyond (illustrated); Water gate, New Palace Yard, Westminster; and Three views of the Speaker's Courtyard, Westminster by James Lawson Stewart. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,792.50), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by James Lawson Stewart; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Entrance to the cloisters from Dean's Yard, Westminster (illustrated); Bell tower of St. Stephen's Chapel, Westminster; Courtyard of the Deanery, Westminster; The ancient gateway, Dean's Yard; and Judge Jeffries' House, Duke Street, Westminster sold at auction in November 2010 with the realized price of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,941.87).
