The work Abstract #9, 1998 by James Hayward was sold in the Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 16,575.00 (€ 15,730.28), 66% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Abstract #9, 1998 the most expensive artwork by James Hayward that we have observed at auctions so far.
