In December 2019 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Contemporary Art & Editions Online, which included the work Athenian, 1988 by James Hayward. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,200.00 (€ 7,303.82), 37% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Hayward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Abstract #9, 1998, which sold at auction in April last year for USD 16,575.00 (€ 15,730.28).

Im Dezember 2019 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Contemporary Art & Editions Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Athenian, 1988 von James Hayward zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.200,00 (€ 7.303,82) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von James Hayward mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Abstract #9, 1998 beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für USD 16.575,00 (€ 15.730,28) versteigert wurde.
