Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work #14, Bright Circle by James Grant was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 600.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,745.81). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Grant - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive view of Edinburgh, from the Castle, with the National Gallery and the Scott Memorial in the foreground, which sold at auction in October 2003 for GBP 4,541.00 (€ 6,632.54).
