In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction The Irish Sale, Part II, including the Studio Collection of, which included the work Shepherd Driving his Flock to the West End Sheepfold, Tory Island by James Dixon. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,939.83), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by James Dixon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self Portrait in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 11,750.00 (€ 19,699.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Irish Sale, Part II, including the Studio Collection of durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shepherd Driving his Flock to the West End Sheepfold, Tory Island von James Dixon zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.350,00 (€ 3.939,83) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Dixon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Self Portrait im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.750,00 (€ 19.699,14).
