Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work Boys and girls come out to play by James Charles. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,153.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Charles - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Darby and Joan, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 26,290.00 (€ 38,382.57).
