In January this year Christies held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Untitled (Interior Scene) by James Castle. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,123.04), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by James Castle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).

Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Interior Scene) von James Castle zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.123,04) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Castle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 41.470,23).
