Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Coat) by James Castle was sold in the Outsider Art auction at Christies in New York in February last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,273.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by James Castle have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in January 2019 the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) was auctioned for USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).

Die Arbeit Untitled (Coat) von James Castle wurde im Februar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Outsider Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.273,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
