Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by James Bishop was sold in the Contemporary Art Online | New York auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,566.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Bishop achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work For Viola Farber in October 2017 with an auction result of EUR 295,500.00.

Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von James Bishop wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Online | New York bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.566,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Bishop erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit For Viola Farber im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 295.500,00.
