Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work A bay carriage horse, the property of E. Fuller-Maitland, Esq., M.P. by James Barenger. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,400.00 (€ 14,539.67), 18% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Barenger - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unkenneling; Going to draw; Gone away and The Kill, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 22,325.00 (€ 35,823.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit A bay carriage horse, the property of E. Fuller-Maitland, Esq., M.P. von James Barenger zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.400,00 (€ 14.539,67) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von James Barenger mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Unkenneling; Going to draw; Gone away and The Kill beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 22.325,00 (€ 35.823,39) versteigert wurde.
