This artwork by James Barenger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2005. In the BRITISH PICTURES 1500-1850 auction, the work Snipe Shooting In A Winter Landscape sold for GBP 21,600.00 (€ 31,733.13) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by James Barenger; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Unkenneling; Going to draw; Gone away and The Kill sold at auction in May 2000 with the realized price of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 35,823.39).
