Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Full Cry by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,258.18). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Military Encampment At The Edge Of A Forest in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,930.36).
