Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Gentleman On Horseback Conversing With A Lady And An Officer In A Landscape by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 423.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Military Encampment At The Edge Of A Forest in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,930.36).

Als die Arbeit A Gentleman On Horseback Conversing With A Lady And An Officer In A Landscape von Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines im September 2019 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 375,00 (€ 423,14) den Besitzer.
