Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Full Cry by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,825.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Military Encampment At The Edge Of A Forest in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,930.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Full Cry von Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines im April 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.825,65) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Military Encampment At The Edge Of A Forest im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.800,00 (€ 24.930,36).
