Auction result well in line with expectations
The work St Jerome, Christ and John the Baptist by Jacopo del Sellaio was sold in the Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture auction at Christies in London in July 2020. The price achieved of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 55,771.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacopo del Sellaio achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Esther Before Ahasuerus in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 856,000.00 (€ 678,073.51).

Die Arbeit St Jerome, Christ and John the Baptist von Jacopo del Sellaio wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 50.000,00 (€ 55.771,19) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacopo del Sellaio erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Esther Before Ahasuerus im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 856.000,00 (€ 678.073,51).
