Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work A Seated Bishop Reading From A Book On His Lap, And A Small Study Of The Same Figure, Wearing A Cap by Jacopo da Ponte. The price achieved of USD 48,000.00 (€ 36,928.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacopo da Ponte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Adoration Of The Shepherds in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 8,901,000.00 (€ 6,593,333.33).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 48.000,00 (€ 36.928,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacopo da Ponte erzielen.
