The »bidding war« ended at USD 468,500.00 (€ 410,568.75), 56% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob van Hulsdonck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life With Plums, Grapes And Peaches In A Wicker Basket, With Cherries, Hazelnuts, A Beetle And A Butterfly On The Wooden Tabletop Beneath, which sold at auction in January 2010 for USD 1,874,500.00 (€ 1,351,478.01).
