Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2013 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters& 19th Century Art - including Dutch Impressionism., which included the work The Happy Drinker: A Man Seated In An Interior Holding A Roemer by Jacob Toorenvliet. It changed hands for a price of EUR 7,500.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Toorenvliet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rabbinical Discussion in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 104,500.00 (€ 76,193.95).
