Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Turkish Merchants Conversing by Jacob Toorenvliet was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 23,711.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob Toorenvliet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rabbinical Discussion, which sold at auction in January 2011 for USD 104,500.00 (€ 76,193.95).
